Granny Square Washcloth
A large granny square makes the best washcloth.

This is the 3 color version. If you prefer to work your washcloth in one color, ignore the color indicators and follow all other directions.

Yarn: DK or worsted weight cotton

Hook: size H

Gauge: Not important for this piece


Pattern


With color A, ch 4. Sl st to first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: With color B, ch 3 (turning ch, counts as first st). 2 dc into ring, ch 2, 3 dc into ring, ch 2, 3 dc into ring, ch 2, 3 dc into ring, ch 2, sl st into top of the turning ch to join

Round 2: With color C, Turn, ch 3 (turning ch, counts as first st), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in ch 2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 1, sl st into top of turning ch to join

Rounds 3 – 7: Rotate between colors A, B, and C, ending on color A, Turn, in every ch 1 sp, 3 dc, in every ch 2 sp (there will be 4 per row), 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1 before and after every dc group

Finishing:
1. With color B, for the entire round, 1 sc in each dc , 1 sc in each ch 1 sp, 2 sc in each ch 2 sp. End round with a sc in top of the previous row’s turning ch.
2. With color C, for the entire round, 1 sc in each sc, 2 sc in each of 4 corner sc. Sl st to first sc to end.
3. Hide tails in work.
